I have no mercy or compassion in me for a society that will crush people, and then penalize them for not being able to stand under the weight.

Cynical Idealism: this is a post about tone policing.
I’ve been seeing an awful lot of tone policing on my dash lately. It seems a lot of people don’t really understand why someone would respond aggressively or angrily, or otherwise emotionally, to having something really fucked up/hurtful/oppressive said to…

Boing Boing's roundup of African responses to KONY 2012
I was going to do this post but Boing Boing’s already done it. Please read this.
Young Africans speaking out!!!
Where the focus should have been all along. But of course, the African opinion is unimportant to Westerners who are simply looking to ease their conscience.

Sadly the propaganda campaign launched in the 1960s has taken root. The radical feminists succeeded in undermining the traditional family and convincing women that professional accomplishments are the key to happiness.
They’re just good for heterosexual sex, making babies and cleaning up the house, right, Rick?
Amazingly, about half of half of the country is nonetheless prepared to vote for this spiteful dick.

Man, I miss the days when women were institutionalized in their own homes too, Rick.

“Convincing women that professional accomplishments are the key to happiness”…? Coming from the man running for president? What a giant ass. The only moral success is MY success.

The Donald Trump wind turbine fiasco could be defining for Scotland | Mike Small | Comment is free | guardian.co.uk
We all have different priorities in life. But how many of us are moved to consider that the right to drive off the tee with an unencumbered sea view is the real challenge humanity faces?
News that Donald Trump was to fund the campaign against renewable energy in Scotland will provoke mixed emotions. An America tycoon, Trump has been objecting since September 2011 to plans to build an offshore windfarm near his luxury golf resort close to Aberdeen.
The Ireland/Scotland wind turbine situation is tricky. I’ve been trying to get work up there on a wind farm or researching it at a uni, but the public viewing of the projects can be ambivalent. To some extent it’s easy to just call NIMBY-ism, but on the other hand, a lot of the pressure for Ireland/Scotland to develop wind farms comes from England. A lot of Ireland’s livelihood in being independent economically from England is its tourism industry, a direct result of being an untouched landscape. So the attractiveness for development of Irish and Scottish lands is twofold for England: “free” energy as well as another way to keep Brittania under its thumb.

When we talk about people who spray-paint and break windows and start bonfires in the street and shove people and scream and run around,… let’s keep one thing in mind: they didn’t send anyone to the hospital, drive any seniors from their homes, spread despair and debt among the young, snatch food and medicine from the desperate, or destroy the global economy.
